International Women’s Day is fast approaching and because I have to ‘suffer’ through it each year , I want to suggest a set of rules for corporates who will suddenly realize 2 weeks to 8th March , that they need to put an event together .

Here a set of Rules I have put together for how I believe Corporates should act on and around International Women’s Day

Rule 1

DO NOT reach out to your women speakers 1-2 weeks to the event, in a huff and puff demanding/begging their time.

Rule 2

DO NOT ask women speakers to speak for free (just pay women for their work ), if you truly support women you will pay for their time .The exception here is if you are a non profit

Rule 3

DO NOT pick a vague(ish) women’s topic just because its international women’s and you have to put something together

Rule 4

DO NOT have your social media team make a big splash on the day when you do not hire women equitably or pay women within your organization in an equitable manner.

Happy International Women’s Day in Advance
